Sabatti STR Desert Tactical Rifle V.2
Sabatti Tactical bolt-action rifle, model “STR Desert”. Created for tactical “field” applications where superior accuracy is required. Comes in Cerakoat Desert tan. The STR rifle comes with the Sabatti signature action and a 7-round magazine. The barrel is 0.8’’diameter at the muzzle and comes with 5/8’’-24 threads to fit most accessories available on the market today. The rifle comes standard with a thread cup and professional muzzle brake with radial holes designed for precision target shooting. The modular stock butt and grip are machined from two solid blocks of high resistance Ergal 55 light alloy. The fully adjustable butt stock can be folded to a smaller size for ease of transportation. All “M4” type stocks sold on the market will fit the tube. The Sabatti barrel is fitted with a custom AR-style Picatinny hand guard that matches the 20 MOA rail on the action. Three additional rails on the hand guard can accommodate any accessory a shooter may want. While the action rail is in steel, the mating full-length top Picatinny rail and the side rails are all machined from solid billets of Ergal 55 alloy. A synthetic rod connects the barrel cover to the stock body to facilitate free-standing shooting or for ease of transportation with folded stock.
Multi Radial Rifling: Sabatti S.p.A has designed and introduced a unique rifling profile with different features over that of traditional rifling that, despite its overall effectiveness, has limitations especially when it comes to lead free bullets. Sabatti's objective was to develop a rifling system with all the positives of the traditional one and none of the negatives. Every area of the bore in concave. There is no convex point protruding towards the center of the bore. Consequently the bullets are only mildly misshaped and not cut like in traditional rifling which extends the life cycle of the barrel. Also there are no sharp corners to fill like in polygonal rifling. With multi-radial barrels two different raduses alternate in order to slightly misshape the bullet geometry without cutting it and submitting it to extreme stress.
All the tests that Sabatti have carried out on multi-radial barrels prove that - under similar circumstances - less copper deposits inside the barrels and, therefore, less cleaning is required. Also, when needed, cleaning is much easier to do than with traditional rifling.
Multi-radial barrels have also proven to perform better and with more accuracy than barrels with traditional rifling.
The results of the tests show that:
-
Speed is higher than with traditional rifling, up to 10% under certain circumstances.
-
Group concentration is substantially improved.
-
Number of Fliers is drastically reduced
-
Shooters can improve performance by polishing the bore with abrasive paste pads with no fear of ruining the rifling edges.
These are all the reasons why multi-radial rifling is truly ideal for target and competition shooting. And this is why now all Sabatti target rifles come with multi radial rifling.
The multi-radial rifling lends itself so perfectly to the cold hammer forging that the overall performance and quality of all the barrels has stepped up. The specific rifling geometry makes it possible for the chamber neck and freebore to guide the bullers into the rifling more precisely and steadily - the bullet matches the barrel axis in the best possible way thus reducing the fliers.

Sabatti Tactical EVO Desert
Sabatti Tactical Desert bolt-action rifle; specifically designed for long distance shooting.
The barrel is cold hammer forged from a billet of chrome molybdenum steel and available in 22 or 28 mm contours for enhanced grouping. The table below lists barrels that can be provided with the new Multi-Radial Rifling System.
Actions and locking bolts are machined from solid blocks of high resistance steel alloy fi rst and then heat-treated for maximum strength and durability. The precision high resistance composite stock features a desert camouflage finish and comes with a buttpad and cheek piece system for complete adjustability. LOP is also adjustable through a system of stock inserts.
Barrel, action and bolt feature the high resistance Cerakote finishes in sand color for improved resistance and durability. The three-lever match trigger comes standard with this gun.
Sabatti TLD F-Class
The Sabatti TLD competition bolt-action rifle represents the sum of many years of Sabatti experience in shooting competitions, embodying technologies and design specifically developed for long-range sport shooting specialties.
The TLD competition rifle is based on a Blizzard action, with a three-locking lug bolt and a fast 60-degrees throw; both the bolt and the receiver are machined out of a solid billet of high-strength special steel.
The heavy, cold hammer-forged barrel (28mm diameter at the muzzle) sports a full-on black finish, is fluted to reduce overall weight and improve heat dissipation and comes standard with Sabatti MRR multi-radial rifling.
The quintessential F-Class style stock is adjustable by length of pull through a set of issued spacers and it also features an adjustable cheek riser.
The key feature of the Sabatti TLD design is the new coupling system that holds the stock and action together, based on a rear pillar and a brand new, innovatively designed front recoil lug offering superior performance.
Sabatti TLD Gold Competition
Sabatti TLD Gold is one of the new rifles and intended for both traditional 300-mtr shooting and Long Distance, the discipline this rifle is named after. This model was designed and engineered by Sabatti in cooperation with the well-known “BCM” company. It represents a natural evolution towards very technical and high performance competition rifles that meet the requests of very demanding and knowledgeable shooters. This precision rifle does not come from an adaptation of an existing hunting action. It was actually designed and built specifically for competition shooting featuring perfect alignment of bolt and barrel and perfect fit of lugs and frame to maximize contact surfaces. The stock design is also innovative. Despite being inspired by F-Class and Open Category stocks, the addition of a removable magazine makes it usable in all competitions. In fact, the way the action fits the stock is what tells this rifle apart. Stock and frame do not touch like they normally do. The frame is actually “suspended” above the stock by means of a front “V” block, that also functions as a recoil lug, and a rear round cradle, which eliminates stress and improves shooting. We have named this self-regulating system “SUSPENDED ACTION” whereas bedding is not only unnecessary but also potentially limiting. We definitely had high performance in mind when we started to work on our precision rifles and specifically the TLD GOLD, but we did not neglect safety either. We consciously decided to stay away from any engineering solution that could create issues down the road with metal ammunition developing uncontrolled pressures. The system we adopted actually minimizes damages of such occurrences. Mechanism, bolt and magazine are all machined from solid bars of high quality steel. Their surface is hard, but their core is soft, which makes them super strong, but not fragile. This is of the utmost importance with long distance rifles as shooters are notorious for “abusing” ammunition while trying to squeeze yet another meter a second out of them. The 3-tenon locking mechanism is also responsible for a very fast 60 opening. The new guillotine-type extractor helps support the rim o the shell while seating in the bolt head, thus minimizing the risk of abnormal deformation. The bolt is ground for precision tolerances and chromed for protection against oxidation caused by exposure to combustion residues as well as wear. The chroming and extreme polishing of all sliding surfaces yield a very smooth operation which translates into more speed and less stress on a shooter who does not have to deal with bolts that get stuck or do not run smoothly. All barrels are cold hammer forged and feature the MRR Multiradial Rifling now considered as synonymous of precision and reliability by shooters the world over. The trigger mechanism can be either a 3-lever Match (standard) or the new 2-step one (DSMT). The stock in the TLD model is an evolution of an “F-Class” stock and it is definitely geared towards competition. It is made of a new multilayer laminated material of Italian origin, much stronger than the materials coming from Northern Europe. The result is a more rigid stock which improves performance overall. And as we felt we “owed” our shooters a chance to further customize their rifles, rather than having to adjust to it, all our TLD come standard with adjustable cheek piece and spacers for LOP adjustment. As a result, the TLD is one of the most innovative and high performance precision rifles on the market today whose modern captivating lines do not go unnoticed. New Sabatti ACTION for tactical and competition rifles model TLD and ST18 This action was designed and built in cooperation with the renowned manufacturer of competition rifles, BCM. It is not a hunting action converted to competition, like so many others on the market today. This action was specifically designed for sporting and tactical shooting where the need for resistance, longevity and accuracy is more extreme than in hunting. The new action is manufactured on lathes and milling machines starting from solid bars of high resistance steel alloy. It features three locking lugs with an easy and fast 60° opening. The handle of the 3-front-lug bolt with a 5/16 thread is easily interchangeable. After machining, the action is heat treated for resistance, ground and chrome plated. The smooth contact surfaces guarantee effortless bolt movement as well as lower noise level than all competitors’ products. The special steel alloy of actions and bolts generates surfaces that are very hard, basically indestructible, but not fragile. The cores are strong. The new guillotine-type extractor is extremely reliable and safe, as it cannot move backwards when the cartridge bottom expands under pressure. This design tends to reduce (but not eliminate) the damages generated by the use of ammunition operating at out of range pressures. But what truly sets this rifle apart is the way action and stock come together in a dynamic suspension. The new action “floats” above the stock by means of two supports, a V-shaped front block, which works as a recoil lug, and a rear cradle block. The barrel is completely suspended. The stress and tension generated by traditional barreled action- stock bedding and fitting are therefore eliminated to the benefit of accuracy. This system can be called “SUSPENDED ACTION”. Thanks to the all the features and pluses described above, we feel 100% confident we offer one of the best competition actions available on the market today.
